We partnered with Destination DC in revamping DC Circulator’s current site but mostly from the inside. The previous version, while aesthetically very similar, was built using technology that had since become outdated for the web (Java) and needed to be recompiled to make any sort of text changes. Not the easiest thing to deal with when trying to make quick site changes to transit schedules.
Our solution? Based on the client’s comfort level with Joomla, we converted the backend – including custom built Google Maps showing each stop’s location on a zoomable map – to this open source content management system. This makes editing and updating the site that much simpler and allows the client to “get under the hood” occasionally to make the changes he’d like to make.
